Group Records Report - December 2002
Season's greetings from Area 36 Group Records. I have just a few items to wrap up the year-end.
We recently completed the "fall cleanup" activity from the General Service Office (GSO) of groups it considers inactive. (One measure GSO uses to question whether a group is inactive is if mail is returned from the contact address they have on record.) We made changes provided to us by the Districts to the Area Group Records, and forwarded the changes on to GSO for their updates.
Despite the fact we did not receive many returns regarding these inquiries, we will have another chance early next year to once again review/verify/modify the status of all groups in Area 36 during GSO's annual Group Records update process.
Our current activity involves getting updates on Area and District rotations off to GSO. We're trying to provide these updates to GSO as soon as we've received them and updated the Area Group Records, so that any communications from GSO to the new Area and District officers and committee chairs is with the correct individuals.
As long as we're on the subject of rotations, this is the last article from me as Group Records co-chair. My co-chair, Kay, and I would like to thank the Area for the opportunity to be of service, and to thank all of you who have worked with us to help ensure the Area's Group Records accurately reflect the groups and their General Service Representatives (GSRs) and their contact information. We've enjoyed it immensely.
Your new Area 36 Group Records Chair is Samira A., who will begin her rotation January 1st. We had time to go over some of the Group Records processes at the December Area Committee Meetings. Samira has a wealth of sobriety and general service experience and commitment, and has done similar group records activity previously. Please continue to provide her the cooperation and assistance you've extended to us over the past two years. It will be crucial to the successful ongoing maintenance of Area 36's group records.
Well, I guess that really is it. I hope to see you at the Area Service Conference in January.
Yours in Love and Service,
Steve K.
