District Sixteen - June 2004 Minutes

REMINDER: Anne M needs names of volunteers for the PI Luncheon in October, before the next meeting.

Lois P. was present for the July Literature Report. She didn’t have anything to report. Sorry, Lois.

Beginning balance was $858.59.
Contributions were $72.71.
Rent was corrected from last month by paying the extra.
Unity Picnic was $90.43.
Ending balance was $795.87.

Has not gotten a hold of Lamoyne yet regarding meetings that are still available on Central Ave. in Faribault.

Attended Area Committee Meetings for Patty.
Passed out some flyers he picked up at the meetings. They showed upcoming events.
January Service Conference is January 8th and 9th, 2005.
The Area Committee passed a motion to have discussion and vote to ask the General Service Conference to consider producing a glossary for the Big Book.
The Pigeon Policy should be taken back to the groups for consideration.
District 18 will be helping the new Spanish speaking district get started up. They will be District 27. There are currently 19 Spanish Speaking Districts in the U.S. They are not yet considered an “official” District.
Area needs a new Webmaster.
There are still time slots available at the State Fair Booth.

He was not present at the last Group Conscience meeting. They are searching for a new name for the group.

next Family Recovery Night is August 27th at Emmaus Baptist Church. Next group conscience meeting they will be discussing smoking policy at the group.

Numbers are low. Support the Spanish Speaking District. Discussed glossary for the Big Book and they didn’t see a need for one. They feel the book will get to big.

They had two meeting nights before. They have now just split into two groups. The second is calling themselves the Coathanger Group.

She attended the Area Committee Meetings. They discussed the Pink Can Plan. When making donations to this plan, please include group’s name. The guy in charge checks his P.O. box once a week. They do have a good amount of money, but keep the contributions coming, because the orders are getting bigger. Grapevines can be requested thru the Correctional Facility. Institutions can order Grapevines thru the Pink Can Plan. New Plan Coordinator is Michael. He is replacing Christine.
There is a meeting regarding cooperation with Area 35 on Friday, October 1st.
A man is being released to the Faribault area and would like someone to write one letter to him. And then when he is released, take him to his first meeting.

Anne is looking for volunteers for the committee to set up the PI Luncheon on Wednesday September 29th at the Northfield Retirement Center. Volunteers for the State Fair Booth should be receiving a map in the mail.

Family Focus evenings are September 8th and 9th. The 9th there are two times- 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. The Morristown Group took the 9:00 a.m. Other people who may be interested should get a hold of Doug M.

Hiawathaland Suite has been reserved.
Mary Lou needs volunteers to staff the room.
Unity Picnic- what did your groups think? Should we keep doing it? Thurs.Night Big Book thought it was great. Doug M. had fun. Patty A. said she thought the speakers were great.

Patty asked that we promote District elections at October meeting. Make sure everyone at our groups knows about these elections to give everyone a chance to run. Thanks!!
Holiday Party in December.
Groups should discuss possibility of being willing to host or house this party. Location is in Faribault this year. So, a Northfield group should host it.
