District Sixteen - June 2004 Minutes

Beginning balance was 976.47. Contributions were 52.54, expenses were the rent (25), travel reimbursement and copies for DCM. Ending balance was 900.74.

New District meeting schedules are printed. A suggestion to delete meetings at 217 Central, because they fluctuate so much. Someone also suggested to just add a contact number that people could call. Doug C. will talk to Lamoyne and see if he has any ideas.

Reminded us of June 26th Area Assembly. Mileage reimbursement will be voted on that day. An NA presentation will take place in the afternoon. A presentation on “When does 12th step work become more appropriately paid special worker work?”

Five people interested in sitting at the AA booth at the State Fair.
Felt raising the travel reimbursement to 26 cents was a step in the right direction, but should take it a step further to be completely self supporting.
Decided to have people smoke only in the back room of the group on a trial basis until August group conscience.
Had heard that the Grapevines were at the emergency rooms but hadn’t seen them for sure.
A flyer had been brought down to be hung on their board announcing a new group AA/NA. The GSR decided to wait to hang it until it had been discussed at the meeting. The group decided it was affiliation between the two programs and thought it would be good idea to bring it to the District for discussion. The District Committee did discuss it, and decided that it implied affiliation. Ken H. knows the contacts on the flyer and will ask them to change it and report back at next month’s meeting.

No more interested members in prison meetings.
Whatever District decides about raising the rent is fine.
Two people will sit at the AA booth at the State Fair.
Area travel reimbursement – whatever the Area decides is fine.
Vision -4-U has been taking meetings to the Detox since 1992, and they have decided not to keep that commitment any more. There are a lot of meeting nights available at the H astings Detox if there are any groups interested.

No one new interested in prison meetings.
They are going to start offering newcomers a Big Book to make sure they have one and to make them feel more welcome.
They intend on making a new phone list.

There would be no objection to 26 cents a mile for reimbursement at Area level. District can decide on rent, whatever is fine.

The Corrections Committee did appoint a coordinator for 6 months. The Committee was against the 6 month limit. Thought it should be longer. He coordinates the Corrections Contacts. Vision-4-U rotates into Annex for next three months. Cornerstone goes to jail those same months. Center group has the women’s.

Ken will use his contacts to find out where the Grapevines are at the hospitals.

Cornerstone took Wednesday the 7th for taking a meeting to Family Focus. And Vision-4-U will take Thursday the 8th. The new location for Family Focus is the old Edina Realty office.

New digital Archives free during the month of June. Subscriptions will start in July.
Can register online for 2005 International on September 7th. Get passports now and clear up any issues ahead of time that may keep you from entering Canada.
Had a vote on raising the rent. It was raised to $35.00 per month.
