(Passes out 2003 Area 36 Calendar) Our elections for District officers will be held tonight. Voting members are GSR's and committee chairs.
Area Assembly - was held in Lakeville. Temporary contact program skit was good, also saw new PSA for television. Elected new Area officers: Brenda L., Delegate; Eric J., Alternate Delegate; Mark M., Chair; Sonja H., Alternate Chair; Chris S., Secretary; Treasurer, Niles A.

The District Meeting Directory has been reprinted. The contact listed for the Northfield Thursday night Big Book study is incorrect. The Big Book study group is aware of this and has taken steps to ensure any calls can be responded to. The Alternate DCM is planning to attend the next Area Committee meeting.

In-kind contributions by members estimated to be $744 annually.
Currently have over $900 in the checkbook Discussion: What is our prudent reserve? The Area keeps a 1-2 month prudent reserve. The District Financial Policy does not specify a prudent reserve. Should we send some of the District's money on to the Area and GSO? We have about 60% of last year's expenses in the bank, but we have upcoming expenses, including the Regional Service Conference in Bemidji. Incoming committee chairs may need the money - we tend to spend more money in the first year of the rotation than the second. Did the groups entrust the District with this money for District purposes only? If we act otherwise we violate the conscience of the groups.

Motion: The District should send 1/2 of its checkbook balance on to higher levels, 1/2 of this to our Area, and 1/2 to GSO.
Vote: The motion fails.

Attendance at jail annex meetings has fallen off - many weeks the mens' annex doesn't want a meeting. Should we ask if they would like AA to offer something different, other than a traditional AA meeting? Pass this on to incoming Corrections chair.
The group decided to have a member give a talk on the purpose of having a home group once every 3 months.
The group decided that our Temporary Sponsor Board is for home group members only.
Hiawathaland - We would like for the District to discuss whether or not it supports continuing to host a Hospitality Room at Hiawathaland.
We discussed changing our meeting time on Monday & Wednesday to 7:30 pm. No action was taken.
A rough draft of the group history has been completed. The final deadline for stories for the history is December 1st.

Attendance is 35-40 people, things are going well, and some newcomers are attending.

Julie is our incoming GSR. Putting on a meeting at Hastings Detox. I believe the Alano is asking for $50 rent from the District for the Holiday Party. Held group elections, LaMoyne is our new Secretary/ Alternate GSR.
We'll discuss at our next group conscience whether we're willing to take the jail annex meeting next rotation.

Attendance steady at 15-20. Denise will be our next Treasurer, Larry will be our secretary, we don't have a new GSR yet.
Our group will host the holiday party. We'll be taking the jail meeting next rotation.

District 3 has a committee ready to discuss a joint workshop with District 16 and District 19 (Dakota County). The committee is: LaMoyne S, 507-455-1422, lamoyne@hotmail.com; Jim R, 507-377-8681. District 3's incoming DCM is Lynette, 507-437-2922.
Anyone interested can contact LaMoyne or Jim. Hopefully the District will discuss this again in January. Could the workshop be in February or March? The Area Service Conference is in January.

Decision: The District authorizes around $200 for hot ham sandwiches for the Holiday Party.
The Cornerstone Group will host the party. Every group should send a speaker. Vern, Doug M., and others have keys to the Alano.

Meetings at Family Focus in December: December 11th, Cornerstone Group; December 12th, Third Tradition Group. John will call to confirm the meetings ahead of time.

Use the third legacy procedure. Everyone who is eligible to vote is eligible to stand, plus any nominations from the floor. Use written ballots. Voting members are committee chairs, GSR's, and District officers.
