District Sixteen Minutes

Have not attended any Area functions since last District meeting.

Christine, our Area Delegate, will be here at the next District meeting to give her Delegate's Report. Invite your home group members to attend.

Our new Area Remote Communities Committee chair, Heather H., will be working with her committee to formulate their committee guidelines at the next Area Committee meeting. Our District Remote Communities chair is Marylou.

New District meeting directories were printed.

Next Area Structure Committee meeting will discuss 1) the Website committee guidelines produced by our Area Website Committee, and 2) the Floating Cap plan and the financial surplus at GSO.

Please try to help our Alternate DCM stay informed, as he will be missing several District meetings this summer.

Minutes for 4-18-02 approved. An updated District 16 Mailing List will be sent out with the next set of minutes.

Expenses exceeded income this month by $50. Travel expenses for District chairs and printing of the District Meeting Directory were the main expenses.

Attendance remains around 20. We have the Pink Can out. Recently we've had very good speakers who were recruited by Doug M. at the last Delegate's Workshop.

Our group inventory will be next Sunday, May 19th.

Attendance has been good. We brought good speakers to the Saturday night meeting at the Alano Club in Faribault.

Vision 4 U will probably rotate into the Annex meeting in July.

Our group would like to take the Thursday night Family Focus meeting.

The Third Tradition 20th Group Anniversary will be held on Friday and Saturday nights, August 9th and 10th.

Spanish-speaking attendance is up, we've had a Spanish group most weeks of the past month.

We've been having trouble covering the jail meeting. Only one person went last week and the jail meeting did not go well - the meeting tends to go better when we send more than one AA member. The group can ask the other groups for help in covering the meeting.

The group decided to adopt the Pink Can.

Our current GSR may need to resign for health reasons.

Meetings at Family Focus: We have 4 groups that want to participate, but only 3 meetings each month. The schedule for which groups will take which Family Focus meeting will be worked out each month at the District meeting. Third Tradition Group will take the June 4th meeting.

Planning to hold a PI Luncheon in Northfield this fall, but the date still needs to be set.

The Delegates' Report will be given at the next District Meeting. The General Service Conference responded to our Area Action and agreed to change the Forward to the 4th Edition of the Big Book - our action does make a difference.

The Unity Picnic will be held Sunday, August 4th at Wilderness Park. Please announce at your meetings that volunteers are needed to help organize the picnic. Anyone willing to volunteer should contact Todd T.

Vern F. will try to have a flier ready at the next District meeting. The topic will be "Passing it On, Sponsor to Sponsee". A sponsor and sponsee from each group will give a short talk. Todd has sample fliers and a report from the 1999 Unity Picnic.

Todd T. will call and ask the county to put our name down to use the shelter at Wilderness Park on August 4th. Last year at 8am we put a sign in the shelter saying it would be in use later in the day.

The District supplies hot dogs, buns, charcoal, and soda. The cost to the District is about $75.
